European SOTA Activity Day 2023

This year’s European SOTA Activity Day 2023 took place on Saturday, 16th September 2023. It coincided with the ALL OE SOTA Activity Day 2023 as well as the OE5 SOTA Day 2023. While last year a Kendo club seminar has kept me away from the European SOTA Activity Day this years I was on a business trip to Turino, Italy. I decided to activate Monte Arpone since it is within half an hour driving distance from Torino. So I lugged all my HF gear to Italy, got a rental car, even drove up all the way over treacherous mountain roads, made halfway up the mountain – AND had to abort due to heavy rain 🙁 Meanwhile my fellow hams in Austria enjoyed terrific weather and many S2S QSOs. This is the second year that I’m missing out on the fun and I’m determined to make it next year!
